Happy Birthday Blogging Midlife!
Wow! This week marked the tenth anniversary of Blogging Midlife! I started this blog at the age of 46 and now, perhaps I should rename this to late-ish midlife! It’s been ten years! Some of the topics here have evolved as our lives have evolved. The concept theme is how we all feel during our midlife years.
There have been years when I was consistently writing and years when I just couldn’t put words down. During the pandemic, I didn’t have the heart to write about normal topics when life was so abnormal. The most popular post here was this one.
Adding some humor to this post, I’ve been approached many times over the years to write product endorsements. Some were for hospital beds or girdles for large women and I didn’t think you guys would appreciate them! Please let us live in denial a little longer thank you! I’ve thought about condensing posts into a book, but that’s on hold and instead, I’ve given the site a facelift! Happy 10th Birthday!
I’ve changed quite a bit and so have my readers. My hair has gone from black with red highlights to black with more gray highlights. My circle of friends has gotten smaller, due to less constant mom activity that accompanied that life. I’m no longer very present on active on Facebook because it affected my mental health. I went down quite the rabbit hole for quite some time until I started to choose myself over the internet.
Community and blog exposure. I am so fortunate to have readers in the United States, Sweden, Australia, Canada, and the UK. Somehow I’ve been picked up in other countries and placed on their sites. I have never been concerned about likes or comments, and I’ve learned that they don’t come easy anyway. I’ve stuck to my original reasons for writing and it has served me well. If I can reach the heart of just one person with any post that is how I measure success. It’s been my labor of love, to create a midlife blog where we can all relate to each other. This is why I write.
I hope you will continue to follow me for the next decade. I think it’s important that we are all SEEN as we age. As part of this post, I’m going to ask that if something resonates with you, please share it, especially if it lifts up someone you know. I welcome any topic suggestions and am seriously considering opening the blog up to guest writers so contact me! Again, thank you for reading and I wish you all the very best with your ongoing journey of life and love.
