Vote with intention.

The midterm elections are one week away. In my lifetime at least, I have never seen so many people engaged in politics. Shame on us. We’ve been complacent. Shame on us. We’ve raised children to be complacent and this is why so many young voters have not traditionally voted. Dare I say that we have all been spoiled brats? Have you taken your rights for granted, assuming everything will just be hunky dory in the good old United States of America? We are not the generation of Vietnam or WWII, we are the generation of everything has been just fine. Nothing to see here just move along! Why bother voting? This is America and we will always be just fine.

How many of us have only voted in the presidential election, letting the midterm elections slide by? I’m certainly guilty of this. Not anymore.

Vote. Bring your friends to vote whether they are Republican or Democrat. Vote with intention. Educate yourself. Don’t simply believe any narrative. Who is the better candidate? Who is the intelligent candidate, the moral candidate, the stronger candidate and the candidate we and our children deserve. You know what’s outdated? Party lines. If you are still voting along party lines you are out of touch. Neither party completely represents the interests of the people, and to assume that this is still your parent’s party is…well…you know what they say about the word ASS U ME. Here is a link to get you started! Click here to see your ballot!

I’m trying to be bipartisan here although I must be honest and say that this election I’m voting against the lies, the power grab and the absence of moral character. I voted red during the last congressional election but next week I will change that vote simply because I’ve viewed some hypocrisy and some bandwagon politics. She has been vocal on overturning laws that matter to women. If women can’t support women then they don’t get my vote, regardless of their party.

I have one more thing to say on the subject. Fear is a powerful weapon. Learn how to recognize when you are being manipulated. Don’t be lazy. Don’t assume anything but take the time to get off Facebook and look carefully at all of the candidates. Then vote because your voice matters. You know what else matters?

Character matters. Words matter. They have always mattered.

Especially now.

Vote!
